About Red Cross Mentor Family

Red Cross Mentor Family is a service for individuals over 18 years of age who have experienced negative social control, forced marriage, or other forms of honor-related violence. A mentor family offers a positive break in everyday life where young people can feel a sense of belonging, share daily experiences, and experience empowerment and security.

The Mentor Family is a voluntary matching activity that provides support and assistance to individuals who have faced negative social control and honor-related violence from people close to them, such as family members, social circles, religious communities, and others. The project is aimed at individuals who lack a supportive network.

The Mentor Family project collaborates with the Red Cross Helpline to support individuals experiencing negative social control and honor-related violence.

We are always looking for volunteer Mentor Families who want to help and support those who need it the most. If you want to become part of the Mentor Family project, you can contact us through our website or by phone. We offer training and support to all Mentor Families and will ensure you have the necessary knowledge and resources to provide the best possible support.

The Mentor Family will accompany you for one year, and you have the option to extend the contact in increments of six months. After the agreement period is over, you and the Mentor Family can continue to stay in touch, but as private individuals and not as part of the Red Cross Mentor Family.

The contact between you and the Mentor Family is based on voluntariness, meaning that both parties are free to terminate the relationship if desired.

As a participant in the Red Cross Mentor Family, you will be matched with a family that you regularly communicate with. The Mentor Family will motivate, inspire, and listen to your wishes and interests. What you choose to do together is up to you. You can visit the Mentor Family's home or engage in various activities together.
